I took part in a supercar run around Dee and Donside to raise money for CLAN in Aberdeen.

Superior car care products and advice…

We in Region 2 of the Porsche Club visited Polished Bliss on the 15th March 2009.

The company believe that amazing car care results are dependent on two key factors. The first is the use of high quality products, whose properties are proven, and the second is the application of good techniques, which must be learnt.

They went on to show us what we are doing to our car's paint finish and what we should be doing in the future. Amazing information.

Here are my highlights of the Tour

1. Did you use maps, sat nav or both? We used both
2. Did you follow Travel Destinations route exactly? No. We did try to follow the route on some occasions but due to weather, time and trying to knock wing mirrors off other cars we didn't stick much to the given routes. The best bit for us was when we took the Timmelsjoch Pass Rombo from Italy to Austria on roads SS44 & 186. Even in the the pouring rain the scenery and the roads were fantastic! A "must do" for others in the future.
3. Which hotel was the best for you. Best hotel? .. mmm? For us overall it was the Sunstar Hotel,Grindelwald as it is in such a beautiful location and we found the accommodation to be roomy & clean and a free minibar!. Food was great and they looked after Janis's dietary requirements very well. A pity about the weather but we intend to return there to explore further.
4. Did you have any particularly memorable driving moments (like losing a mirror)? Yes, that was us! It was on the last downhill stretch of the ss631 to Lake Maggiore. An E class Merc was c oming up the hill on a straight section and the driver of the Merc decided that he did not want to go too close to his right side (big drop) and I had a cliff face to my right side and had nowhere to go but slowed right down before our mirrors clashed. We agreed not to start another World War, licked our wounds and shook hands. I now have a LHD nearside mirror that was fitted by Porsche Como on the day we left for Lake Garda. As we were late leaving Como that ment we could not join everyone on the good northern route to Lake Garda but had to take the Autostrada via Milan. Not a pleasant experience if you are not driving a Ferrari but a Porsche in Italy!
5. What were the highlights of the trip for you? a)Meeting so many nice people. b)The sunshine and open roof when there is no better place to be with alpine scenery all around. c)The boat trip to Bellagio d)seeing Lamborghini's being built and how they road test them on public roads. e)Those fast sweeping bends! f)Worst part for us was going on the train from Kandersteg to Gappenstein in the tunnel. It was so, so noisy on a soft top car even with the roof up. I think earplugs should be given out. A frightening experience indeed.

Boxster Tour of Scotland 2008

Here are the photos from our 2008 Tour. 14 Porsche Boxsters one 911 Carerra 4 and one Land Rover (don't ask!) There were 28 of us all together. We met in Stirling then through to Fort William and on to the Isle of Skye. 6 days of driving pleasure on traffic free roads. Bliss.

I took my Boxster around the top of Scotland in 12 hours assisted by Harry C. We had a great time with clear roads and great scenery all the way. The journey took 12 hours and took in Huntley, Inverness, Ullapool, Lochinver, Durness, Altnahara, Lairg, Inverness and home. Average fuel consumption was 30mpg

Porsche Club GB - Boxster Register Tour of Scotland - May 2007

Here are some photos of our fantastic road trip around the West and North of Scotland.

We began our trip at Loch Lomond and travelled up to Fort William via "the rest and be thankful" to picturesque Inveraray on the waters of Loch Fyne, then across to Connel Bridge and Appin heading for the Corran Ferry to Strontain, past Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the call to arms and stopping near Fort William. 175 miles - IT RAINED MOST OF THAT DAY BUT DAVID AND SHIRLEY MANAGED TO KEEP THEIR HOOD DOWN MOST OF THE WAY. Well done them!
Day two took us from Ft. William past Ben Nevis, along the Caledonian Canal towards Loch Ness. We cut off before Loch Ness and headed towards Kyle of Lochalsh passing Eilean Donan castle on the way. We then head around Loch Carron, over the infamous Bealach-Na-Ba at Applecross then passing through Glenshieldaig forest to Torridon where the mountains stretch their full height from the sea to 3,500 ft. From here we traveled to Gairloch, D,B&B (best food on last year’s event) along some fine stretches of road in beautiful scenery alongside Loch Maree. 165 miles - A few of us think that this was the best day on clear open roads with the cream being the run up the Bealach-Na-Ba (Pass of the cattle) over to Applecross. Luckily the sun was out and you could see the as far as the Isle of Lewis.

From Gairloch we went to Ullapool an continued up the North West coast of Scotland to the very remote settlement of Durness. These are the best roads in the UK for scenery, awsome beauty and the fast clear roads that will bring a smile to your face. There were a few stops on the way for (Paula's) Pies at Lochinver and Tea & Scones at Drumbeg,.. thanks Shaun. From Durness we passed the largest limestone cave in Britain, Smoo cave, and stopped for a well earned break at Tongue. The Kyle of Tongue, situated on the rugged north coast is outstanding in its beauty as it flows into the parishes of Tongue and Farr, an area of land considered to be the largest unpopulated mass in the United Kingdom. 150 Miles. Well,,,, most of made it to Tongue apart from Brian and Elsa Halling who's car picked up a puncture near the Corrieshalloch Gorge and they had to travel to Inverness on a car transporter to await a new tyre that had to come from Slough. We all met up with them again at Inverness a day later. Maybe next year Brian. And now that you have that "spare tyre" you can relax in the knowledge that you can change your wheel for a space saver... or is it "lifesaver"?From Tongue we drove along the top of the UK via Thurso to John o'Groats where we got a picture with our cars together, then down the East coast, where the scenery changes completely, to Brora, Dornach (Madonna was married here) and then to Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands. 212 miles. Epic Trip in the best roadster in the World. There is no question of that.

Porsche Club GB - Boxster Register Tour of Scotland - Sept 2006

I was asked to help in arranging this special event last year (2005) at Brands Hatch by the Porsche Boxster Club Secretary and agreed that as I live in Scotland I could, quite easily prepare a route and programme. It took a little of my time to organise everything, such as; the route we should take, how many miles should be attempted each day, which hotels could accommodate up to 20 people together, and how many people would actually come on the event?

I had most of the plan in place by June 2006 and then waited for people to book for the event. I was pleased to see that more than 20 people were very keen to come along and with a few cancelling we had 16 people confirmed people coming along for the trip. 6 Boxsters, one Porsche 914 and one Caymen.

We all first met in Dumfries on the Friday evening to get to know each other and learn a few words in Scottish before we were let loose on Scottish roads. We then, over 3 days, travelled around Scotland's West coast via Largs, Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Gairloch, Ullapool, Inverness & Pitlochry. The roads were superb and clear of traffic all the way. The scenes were awe inspiring and atmospheric because of the few scattered showers on route. However, we all managed, at various stages of the tour, to go topless except for Alan in his tin top Boxster. Ceri Turton and Sarah Tough travelled all the way from Guernsey for the event and enjoyed the fresh seafood on offer in Gairloch. How many langoustines can you eat in one sitting?!? We all had a fantastic time and we all agreed we should not wait for another 10 years before we do it again. Looks like we will be doing another Scottish trip in 2007.

What a weekend! When are we going again? Glorious driving in glorious scenery, and good company to boot. I'll try and put some pictures up asap.We got back late last night so just starting to catch up with work - I need sleep. Had a text from Paula & Shaun to say they got home ok too. I think a very, very, very big thank you is in order for Mr Cameron and also Mark and Claire for all their efforts. So where is Omo Armstrong and his Gayman ??

I absolutely adored the Wester Ross coast - locations like that are my idea of heaven, especially with the peace and quiet. (I was brought up in the country so Cities aren't my natural habitat). Hi Everyone, we got home safely after 452 miles and it took 8 hours, could not get on the Forum until now, had problems this end.
